Grab the mic at these 11 best karaoke bars in Edinburgh

Whenever I’m at work, I sometimes catch myself humming my favourite songs. And when my favourite lyrics come on in my head, the urge to belt them out gets even harder to resist.

Turns out, I’m not the only who feels this way.

One weekend, a teammate invited us out for a karaoke night. Surprisingly, everyone was on board. We couldn’t just keep all the great spots we discovered in Edinburgh to ourselves because these places also let us steam off from work.

Read on to find the places where we had an amazing time belting out some Bay City Rollers classics!

SUPERCUBE’s setup has a seamless setup with wireless microphones and a selection of songs over 53,000. Their system was easy to use and we loved how we could tweak our vocals with some effects for that confidence boost.

We didn’t book online but the front desk accommodated us quickly when we walked in. The whole team was welcoming, even the security guy. There were also staff who helped us pick out our drinks and snacks for the evening.

Room 1 was a perfect mix of privacy and party vibes. There’s no stage setup but if you want somewhere laid-back, this is the perfect place to belt out some power ballads.

SUPERCUBE operates under an 18+ licence, so don’t forget to bring a valid ID to ensure a smooth entry.

We booked a room in Sing City for a karaoke night and it was clean, comfortable, and spacious enough for our team to move around.

We got the New York-themed room, but they also have other options to choose from. The pink neon lights surrounding the space definitely added to the vibe of the night. Plus, the air conditioning was a nice touch because it kept us comfortable the whole time.

Through the table service, we kept the party going without interruptions. The staff was super friendly and accommodating, making sure we had everything we needed from drinks to snacks.

The karaoke system was also easy to use and the song selection was impressive. However, there weren’t as many musical theatre options.

Pro tip:

The entrance is a bit tricky to find since there’s no big sign outside, so make sure to check Google Maps beforehand and learn the ways how to get there for a smoother arrival.

  • Friday to Saturday: 5 PM – 3 AM
  • Sunday: 7 PM – 3 AM

The Banshee Labyrinth has an eerie but inviting atmosphere. The dark, moody lighting, spooky decor, and candlelight add to its haunted charm.

We went on a Tuesday night for karaoke, which takes place downstairs of the bar. We loved how the crowd was very inclusive and supportive. Every time a person got up to sing, the entire room came together to make sure each performance felt like a full-on gig.

Most of the songs sung were rock and metal so our experience the whole night was loud and energetic.

Upstairs, the bar offers a more relaxed space for drinking. It also features a free cinema screening of horror films and a game room, which includes a pool.

Pro tip:

Visit The Banshee Labyrinth during Edinburgh Fringe for PBH’s Free Fringe performances. You’ll enjoy a variety of shows without the pressure of ticket prices as they operate on a “pay what you can” basis.

Our team booked one of the private karaoke rooms in Marcos, and it’s very spacious. The karaoke system had a great selection of songs which are updated daily, so we also got to sing some of the latest hits.

The manager personally showed us the room and explained how everything worked. If we had any technical issues or questions, there was always someone downstairs ready to help.

We also didn’t have to leave the room to grab a drink. The iPad ordering system lets us call in cocktails, beers, and even pizzas without missing a beat.

Pro tip:

It’s a little cold in the karaoke room when we first step in, so make sure to bring a jacket or an extra layer so you can stay warm.

Operating hours:

  • Monday to Sunday: 11 AM – 1 AM

We spent our Wednesday night at Black Rose Tavern, and its gothic decor gave it feel like a cool alternative vibe. The atmosphere felt both edgy and inviting with the dim lighting, skull decors, and candles.

It happened to be rock karaoke night when we visited, and the crowd was a mix of regulars and newcomers. The talent was impressive, but we loved how everyone was just laid back.

Even the staff got in on the action, taking turns on the mic, which made our experience more fun.

The song selection wasn’t limited to just English tracks either. We spotted Korean, Spanish, and other international songs on the list, making the place more inclusive.

Pro tip:

If you’re feeling hungry, go for the fish & chips. The portion is generous and the fish has that satisfying crunchy batter.

6. Frankenstein

Address: 26 George IV Bridge

Contact details: 44 131 622 1818

Operating hours:

  • Monday to Sunday: 12 PM – 1 AM

Price: £

Our Sunday karaoke night in Frankenstein was fun. We loved the dark, Gothic vibes,  and the fact that it’s set in an old church made the experience even more thrilling. The animatronic Frankenstein monster descending from the ceiling was also theatrical which added to the fun.

Downstairs, the karaoke host kept the energy high. The crowd was also one of the most welcoming we’ve seen. At one point, the whole bar was singing along to an 80s rock classic like we were at a stadium concert.

After our karaoke session, we headed upstairs and ordered some cocktails. The Corpset Colada had the perfect blend of coconut a pineapple, with a hint of spiced rum that gave it a slightly warming taste.

Pro tip:

The kitchen closes early without warning so try to order your food and snacks as soon as you arrive.

Operating hours:

  • Monday to Friday: 5 PM – 1 AM

The Globe Bar’s famous Thursday karaoke night definitely lived up to the hype. This underground spot transforms from a laid-back bar into a full-on party venue as soon as the karaoke kicks off at 9:30 PM.

The host kept things running smoothly. We loved how he made sure everyone got their moment on the mic with a top-notch sound system. The crowd was just as engaged when we visited, singing along and cheering every performer.

Beyond karaoke, The Globe Bar also hosts other entertaining events such as quiz nights every Monday.

Pro tip:

If you prefer a less crowded karaoke experience, consider visiting on Sundays. The atmosphere is generally more relaxed.

8. Bar Fifty

Address: Bar 50, 50 Blackfriars St

Contact details: +44 113 526 6372

Operating hours:

  • Monday to Thursday: 4 PM – 1 AM
  • Friday to Sunday: 12:30 PM –  1 AM

Price: £

Bar Fifty runs open karaoke every Thursday and Friday. When we visited, the door staff was friendly, the bar service was fast, and the energy was infectious. The song selection covered everything from classics to contemporary hits, too.

A huge part of the magic comes from Dougie, the karaoke host. He kept the night flowing, hyped every performer, and made sure everyone had a blast. His rapport with the audience really stood out since everyone in our group couldn’t stop talking about him afterward.

One of our friends was hesitant to get up and sing, but with Dougie’s encouragement (and maybe a cocktail or two), they ended up belting out a classic.

Aside from the karaoke, the pool tables are also a great addition.

Pro tip:

There’s a heated beer garden here. It’s a great spot to take a break, but keep in mind that drinks aren’t allowed there.

9. The Three Sisters Bar

Contact details: +44 131 622 6802

Operating hours:

  • Monday to Sunday: 12 PM – 3 AM

Price: ££

We booked one of the karaoke pods in The Three Sisters Bar, and it’s one of the best karaoke experiences we’ve had. The private space had comfortable seating, individual TV screens, and a top-notch sound system that made even our off-key moments feel like a performance.

The staff were also fantastic. They occasionally knocked and popped in to check on us and make sure we had everything we needed.

Aside from the private pods, the bar also hosts public karaoke nights, where anyone can take the stage in front of a crowd. We gave that a shot on a different night and loved how Caleb, the MC, interacted with everyone.

Pro tip:

Book a Karaoke Pod between Sunday and Thursday, you get the first hour free. It’s a great deal if you’re planning an event.

10. The Tron

Contact details: +44 131 225 3784

Operating hours:

  • Monday to Saturday: 12 PM – 1 AM
  • Sunday: 12 PM – 11 PM

Price: £

We checked out The Tron on a Thursday night and it was packed. It’s clearly a student favourite, thanks to the affordable drinks and solid food options.

We went downstairs for the karaoke, but this area also hosts open mics and quiz nights on other nights. The karaoke crowd is young, supportive, and more than happy to sing the choruses with you.

Mike, the host, also kept things moving with his wit and enthusiasm.

The bar service was quick, and they offered a wide selection of beers, ciders, and mixed drinks. Prices are fair, and they even have some great promos, including bottled ciders for only £2.75.

Pro tip:

If you’re a student, don’t forget your ID. The Tron offers some fantastic discounts!

11. Roxy Lanes

Address: 26 Rose St

Contact details: +44 131 370 3400

Operating hours:

  • Monday to Thursday: 1 PM – 12 AM
  • Friday: 12 PM – 1 AM
  • Saturday: 11 AM – 1 AM
  • Sunday: 11 AM – 12 AM

Price: ££

If you want a spot that offers it all, Roxy Lanes is a good choice. It’s much bigger than we expected. While they offer all sorts of activities like bowling and shuffleboard, our karaoke experience was the real highlight.

The karaoke rooms are well set up and spacious, making them perfect for our large group. We browsed their song selection, and they had everything from pop hits to classic rocks.

One of the staff members also showed how everything worked before leaving us for our private session.

While the karaoke was the main event, we also had a great time trying some of their drinks. I’d personally recommend the Espresso Martini for its perfect balance of bold coffee flavour and smooth vodka.

Pro tip:

Don’t just stop at karaoke. Take advantage of everything Roxy Lanes has to offer! After singing, keep the fun going with a round of bowling, beer pong, or even ice-free curling.
