5 best locksmiths in Glasgow who you should call in a pinch

  • Availability: We chose locksmiths who are available 24/7. This helps customers, especially when they’re in an emergency, whether it’s day or night.
  • Response Time: We selected locksmiths with quick response time based on our consultation and feedback from actual customers.
  • Professionalism and Customer Service: We talked to customers and selected locksmiths who were courteous during service and communicated clearly from start to finish.
  • Pricing: We assessed locksmiths with transparent pricing structures. We looked to see if there were hidden fees or if their rates align with the quality of service they provide.

I remember a memory when I was in college. I came home from a party a little tipsy and just wanted to crash in my bed. To my horror, I couldn’t find my keys in my bag. I left them inside my apartment, all because I was rushing out to the door.

Now, as an adult living in Glasgow, I still forget my keys from time to time. But honestly, I don’t stress about it anymore. I know I can just call someone to help me out.

Recently, our team went on a mission to find the best locksmiths in the city and we went all in. Yep, we jammed our doors on purpose to test their services firsthand. Plus, we chatted with customers to get the real scoop on who’s worth calling when you’re locked out.

If you want to know more about what we found, keep on reading!

How much do locksmith services cost in Glasgow?

We tried to call LKC Locksmiths to try out their services. We loved how no call centres or middlemen were involved during the call. We dealt directly with Alex and told him our front door lock was jammed that night.

After 30 minutes, Alex arrived. He was very professional and polite. He quickly identified the issue and even explained to us everything step-by-step. We loved how he gave some advice to prevent future problems, too.

The best part is he didn’t use any destructive techniques just to get us in.

There was also no call-out fee for Alex, even though we called him for a late-night visit. It even came with a 12-month guarantee which is a good deal.

However, we did hear from someone who had a bad experience with the team. The customer’s door still wouldn’t lock despite claiming the lock was fixed.

They tried to raise the issue over the phone but were met with a rude and aggressive tone from a staff. While this seems to be an isolated case, it’s still worth mentioning.

Pros

  • 24/7 availability
  • Direct service
  • Quick response
  • Offers helpful advice
  • Non-destructuve techniques
  • No call-out fees
  • 12-month guarantee

Cons

  • A few reports about poor customer service
  • Additional charge for returns or unresolved issues

Brilliant service

“When four other car locksmiths told me I’d have to go direct to Honda, LKC came out and had it done in 10 minutes. A full demo of the new key to prove it was working was a nice touch. Brilliant service.”

Very passionate about his business

“Alex is a great guy. Very passionate about his business, he’s on the ball and the service from an initial telephone call to the new lock fitting was super fast. Alex came out the same day I called him to look at the lock, he tried his best to repair it but showed me in person it was beyond saving and he ordered a like-for-like lock to replace it. The price was very reasonable and fair and he came out the very next day and fitted the new lock. Customer service was first class, really nice polite friendly chap and knows his trade so you are in safe, honest hands if you use Alex and his locksmith business.”

When our team first visited CJS Locksmiths’ shop, we had a good experience. Colin helped us get a set of keys made, and we appreciated his honesty and transparency.

Compared to other locksmiths, CJS offered a more affordable price and quick service, which was a pleasant surprise.

To further assess their customer service, we reached out the next day by leaving them a message asking for a quote. Unfortunately, it took much longer than expected to receive a response.

After speaking with some customers, we found that many also experience a delayed response. While this isn’t a dealbreaker for non-urgent requests, it could be a concern for emergency situations.

On a positive note, CJS Locksmiths appears to be highly skilled. One customer had an older model vehicle and was impressed by how efficiently they cut a spare key and even fixed an issue with the rear door lock.

Pros

  • Quick service
  • Affordable pricing
  • Upfront and transparent
  • Skilled team

Cons

  • Slow response to inquiries

Quick and well-priced

“Great service and they know their business. Had keys made. Quick and well priced. Had  been somewhere else previously and they wanted to charge 50 percent more and they asked me to come back later in the week. Glad I visited this shop and would recommend them.”

Excellent service even in tricky problems

“Excellent service. Completely up front that there was no guarantee of being able to fix my slightly tricky problem. All worked fine though.”

Access Lock Co’s accreditation by the Master Locksmith Association immediately set a professional tone. It gives us peace of mind that they actually know what they’re doing.

John, one of the locksmiths, sorted our teammate’s front door and garage locks. He was thorough, answered every question in detail, and worked quickly.

During our research, we spoke with another customer who had a similarly positive experience. Aside from working on their doors, John also repaired a tricky PVC window lock for them, saving them from having to replace it entirely.

Beyond standard locksmithing, Access Lock Co offers a comprehensive range of services. Their offerings include emergency door openings and specialised anti-snap locks.

While their prices are fair for the quality of service they provide, we found it relatively higher than the others we’ve visited.

Pros

  • 24/7 availability
  • Accredited by the Master Locksmiths Association
  • Expert locksmiths
  • Wide range of services
  • Quick service

Cons

  • Relatively higher pricing

Excellent service from John

“Excellent service from John. I had tried to fix the lock on my door myself, which was a mistake. John came very soon after my call and fixed it with no problem and it was cheaper than I expected. Will contact him again if needed and would highly recommend it.”

While we were researching, Liberty Locksmiths caught our attention because of its good reputation and reviews. When we called for a quick quote, they were very transparent with their pricing.

We also spoke with some of their past customers, one of whom had an issue with a UPVC door. Luckily, Liberty Locksmiths is an expert in dealing with those.

Denis, the locksmith, used a non-destructive entry method, saving the customer the cost of replacing the entire lock. He also uses high-quality parts from trusted brands like Yale and ERA, all backed by a 12-month guarantee for added peace of mind.

We’ve also heard that Denis is professional and friendly. That same customer said he diagnosed the problem immediately and had it fixed within an hour, even though it wasn’t an emergency.

The only thing we could point out is that, since they’re pretty well-known, some customers have mentioned difficulty securing an appointment due to high demand.

Pros

  • 24/7 availability
  • Great reputation and reviews
  • Transparent pricing
  • Expert in UPVC doors
  • High-quality parts
  • Professional and friendly service

Cons

  • A few reports about appointment availability

He has delivered excellent quality service time and time again

“Based on personal experience I would highly recommend Dennis, he has delivered an excellent quality service time and time again. I have found Dennis to be extremely professional in his approach to resolving any issues that arise. He is always pleasant, polite and helpful. The service is good value and the quality of workmanship speaks volumes. A true gentleman.”

Marie Heaney, Google review

Denis explained clearly what the problem was

“Within an hour of phoning Denis for a non-emergency, our front door locking mechanism had been replaced! I’d have been happy if it had been done within a week, so this was amazing service. Denis explained clearly what the problem was and confirmed this was the time to act before it broke completely. Would highly recommend Liberty Locksmiths.”

Our team also checked out Lock & Company when we needed help with a jammed uPVC door at a rental property. Right from the initial call, they already impressed us with their free estimate and clear communication.

Sam, the locksmith, arrived within 30 minutes and sorted everything out without any fuss.

We particularly appreciated their upfront pricing. There were no call-out fees or hidden charges, and we only paid the amount quoted in the estimate.

Some of the customers we’ve talked to also had good things to say about Sam. One landlord said that Sam helped him out when he lost all their car keys. Sam ordered the part, arrived on his day off to fix it, and even squeezed in another small job while waiting for the car’s update.

On top of that, it’s just reassuring that Lock & Company guarantees their work and is approved by the Scottish Trusted Trader Scheme (SCOTSS). It gives you that real peace of mind.

The only downside is their high demand. While we were lucky to catch them on a good day, a few customers said longer wait times due to the team’s busy schedule.

Pros

  • 24/7 availability
  • Upfront pricing
  • Quick and efficient service
  • Helpful and professional
  • Approved by SCOTSS
  • Guaranteed work

Cons

  • A few reports of long wait times

Very professional service and would recommend it to absolutely anyone

“Sam was excellent in helping me regain entry to my car and cutting a brand new key. It was a very simple process, he turned up on time and explained everything he was doing. Very professional service and would recommend it to absolutely anyone. Thank you, Sam!”

Alasdair Nicoll, Google review

Sam really is top of his game at what he does

“AIM has used Sam on several occasions to cut keys and renew key fobs, and we have never been let down! Sam really is top of his game at what he does and is also very pleasant and helpful to deal with. We would recommend Sam 100% in confidence to any family and friends, 5-star service!”
